Robert Katz was born in Romania in 1952, immigrating to Canada in 1977 after absorbing the influences of central Europe, especially France, Greece, Holland and Germany where he lived. He received his formal art education at l'école des Beaux-Arts.
Through reminiscent of the Impressionists, Robert Katz' technique is uniquely his own, unerringly capturing the infiltration of light and the tranquility of nature at her best. Shunning the urban landscape, he paints with a spiritual resolve influenced neither by praise nor by officious critique.
The artist communicates his impression of subject matter by means of a combination of astute observation and intuitively disciplined cognition. Totally disregarding the inessential, he creates exquisite works from the intrinsic nature of his vision.
Quite simply, Robert Katz continues to enrich the visual arts with his creative perceptions.
